How to create backlinks

What Are Backlinks And Why Are They Important?

One of the biggest search engines out these days is Google. Google ranks using content, formatting, and linking. The higher that Google calculates the 'quality' of your website, the higher your ranking will be in Google searches. One way to have your website seen as high quality by Google is to have other websites link to it. This is known as backlinking (thus "how to create backlinks").
In this article I will show you how to create backlinks to your website and have it indexed by Google a bit faster (usually). This is by no means meant to be a long and wordy novel on the joys of how to create backlinks. What I'm hoping is to give some simple steps that you can take to jumpstart your site on Google using backlinks. Please comment and let me know if this article was of any help!
(To recap: Backlinks are links from other sites to your websites. Backlinks are important because good backlinks increase your ranking on Google searches.)
NOTE: Nothing beats having great content! Make sure that you have something that will catch people's attention. What good is a link to something that doesn't make people want to keep coming back to your site?

1: Current High PR Websites

There are already plenty of sites that rank highly on Google. Why not use these to boost your site's ranking? Here are 3 ways to create backlinks from these websites:
  1. Post regularly and then ask for a link, or post a link eventually. Make sure that you add information and quality to their site before trying to create a backlink from it. (No one likes a freeloader!)
  2. Find older, high PR sites that still have guestbooks setup. Simply enter a nice comment that features links to your website.
  3. Search in Google for high ranking blog sites that feature comments by typing in "[your keywords here]" "powered by wordpress" "leave a comment" -"no comments". Once you gain some results, go through the sites and make sure that they do not have the "no follow" code. (you can do this by pressing "Ctrl+U" then "Ctrl+F". Type in "nofollow". If the word search finds "nofollow" in the website code, then you are unable to add a link. Otherwise, you should be good to link to your website.)

2: Social Bookmarking Sites

A VERY good and popular way to get your website listed on Google is through social bookmarking websites such as Digg.com. Not only do these sites give your website exposure, but they also create tons of backlinks. These sites are indexed by Google pretty regularly, and so your submissions stand a good chance of being indexed quickly. 3 simple steps of getting setup on social bookmarking sites are:
  1. If it applies, make sure to optimize your article / post headlines for maximum interest.
  2. Go to www.socialmarker.com to sign up for, and submit your website to, social bookmarking sites
  3. Make sure to submit your major articles and posts (but don't overdo it!).
  4. Make sure to add friends and comment on other posts / articles. The more friends that you have, and quality posts and votes that you've made, the more chance you have to get traffic (and backlinks) to your website.

3: Hubpages & Squidoo

Squidoo and Hubpages are both websites that provide users with one webpage to write about any topic. This is pretty useful since, just like the social bookmarking sites, these sites are indexed regularly and rank pretty high on Google. A good strategy is to submit articles, that include links back to your website, to these sites as pages. Submit articles with enough quality and people will link back to your squidoo and hubpages sites.

4: Video Marketing

Video Marketing is a great way to advertise and create backlinks. A Secret: There is usually a lot less competition for the ranking of videos in searches, than the ranking of websites. So there is A LOT of potential to get yourself noticed. Not only will people link to and view your videos, but they will sometimes put your videos on their websites as well! 3 steps to creating backlinks through videos are:
  1. Sign up for the video website and enter information about your website in your website profile.
  2. Post funny, shocking, or informative videos that have to do with your website. make sure to use software like Camtasia to edit the video so that it includes a branded watermark,
  3. Make sure to also post your videos to your blog or website with added text.
(YouTube and Google Video are great websites to create backlinks)

5: The Basics

Another option is going back to the basics with text link trade. I'm not talking about the trades that you're used to. This linking system basically adds links to sites that choose to have a link posted from your website. The good thing about it is that the code that THEY use will include a backlink to your site. The code that the person who clicks through their site will use will have a backlink to your website as well. Check it out at.

6: Get Creative!

Some creative ways to create backlinks include:
  1. Create Software that includes links to your website.
  2. Create Plugins that include links to your website.
  3. Create Website Code that includes links to your websites.
  4. Create Website Layouts / Templates that include links to your website (can you imagine how many backlinks this could make for you?!).
  5. Donate To A Non-Profit Organization / Cause that posts up informatin about people who make donations. Have them post up information about your website.
  6. Answer questions on "Yahoo! Answers" and other "answer sites". Make sure to put a link to your website in your answer (preferably to an article or page on your site that addresses the question).
  7. Join Twitter and have it follow your posts.
  8. Create a Myspace And Facebook Profile for your website.
  9. Be a guest author on blogs and news websites.
  10. Create an online forum or Yahoo/Google group.
  11. Create an ebook, that has plenty of links to your website, and that you can give away for free.
  12. Submit your site to web directories.
  13. Link inside of craigslist ads.
  14. Link inside of forums.
  15. Join the BBB (Better Business Bureau).
  16. Network with friends and local businesses for links.

Turnkey Niche Websites

Building niche websites is important and of great importance for both experienced as well as amateur people who might agree to the fact that marketing and advertising through such niche websites is one of the best ways for Internet Marketing. This belief is not much false as these days many net marketers are using such websites to make profit for themselves and are getting regarded as authority figures in their owned domains. This phenomenon is particularly accurate for internet marketing. The Amateur people new to such sites should try and build niche websites which have fewer amounts of competition rather than competing with the more experienced people out there in the field and thus try and earn as much profit as possible. Thus the real task and difficulty lies in building such websites and hence make profit and earn money using such websites.

Now let us discuss at length some of the techniques and methods by which individuals can earn money using their niche websites.

1. Firstly the most important fact one must be aware of is the basic knowledge to be able to identify and build a good niche website for him/her. As Niche promotion is mainly concerned with the demand and the supply for the products thus when a certain product/service is in demand but the supply is less, then at that time if new products are launched at that time they stand a great chance of reaching market leader position. Thus if one is able to locate and select such a niche for themselves then they have a great possibility of gaining dominance over that niche by meeting the demands of the clients. Hence such basic knowledge is what is required which helps in distinguishing flourishing niche advertisers from the common advertisers.

2. Secondly one plan each of their steps they need to take and execute very thoroughly as creating and earning money through such niche websites calls for great planning and a methodical approach. Whether one is selling products through Click Bank or simply advertising them he/she must have a methodical approach in their minds as such an approach towards niche websites makes the task of making profit trouble free.

3. Thirdly, you should come to terms with the fact that niche websites enables one to earn only a few hundreds of dollars as profit ,thus if one requires many dozens of such niche sites to earn profits in thousands of dollars. Thus one should never expect over the top benefits from the websites as managing and updating the websites is quite a difficult task at hand.

4. Lastly one should try and minimize the manual effort going into the task of building and managing the niche websites. Thus one should try and employ someone to do the work for you or can simply use any of the many software available over the net for updating their websites as by doing so individuals can save a lot of time that can be devoted towards expanding their respective niche websites.

Hence by following some of the above mentioned methods people can very easily build their niche websites and start earning money using them.

How to Raise Money

Late on rent? Can't fill your car with gas to get to work? Assuming all available funds and traditional sources of credit are tapped out, here are 25 ways to raise cash in a few days. Keep in mind, while all of these ideas are legal, some of them are not something we would encourage. From being an Amazon Mechanical Turk to banking your sperm we share 25 ideas for raising cash in a hurry, in order of the least to most desperate.

1) Get a turnkey website

Affiliate marketing is a great way to start earning extra income in your spare time.  Our autopilot websites allows you the opportunity to make money online without much effort on your part!
Turnkey Site For Sale

2)  Start Your Own Part-Time Business From Home

If you want to start a business, you don't have to invest much money to make money. Sometimes you can start a business with next to nothing. Jacob and Susan D'Aniello's pooper scooper business is now a multi-million dollar franchise called DoodyCalls. But in the beginning, it was just them, a bag and a shovel. You might also consider hiring yourself out as a dog walker, errand runner, driver or computer consultant.

3) Take a Part-Time Job

With most part-time jobs, it's probably going to be two weeks, at best, before you receive that first paycheck. When you need cash sooner than that, look for jobs that offer immediate money in your pocket, like one that includes tips. Bartending and waiting tables are two tried-and-true examples.

4) Seek Emergency Assistance

Many charities provide services and items that you would otherwise spend money on, freeing up some dollars to apply to your most pressing needs. Among the most common of these are food banks and open-dining opportunities, help or waiver of utility costs, and clothing and other household essentials.

5) Make Stuff to Sell

Think of the proverbial lemonade stand, but all grown up. When one WalletPop blogger is entirely broke, she'll get out her sewing machine and make her favorite quick project: stuffed geese (made out of thrifted fabric). They sell like crazy on Etsy, an online shop devoted to crafty vendors, and is her go-to plan when the well runs dry and she needs to bring in some quick cash.

6) Rent Out Your 'Spot'

If you own some prime parking real estate, you could put cash in your pocket and get more exercise by renting out your spot and parking further away. If access to your car is less convenient, perhaps you'll even drive less, saving money on gas, too.

7) Sell Stuff on Craigslist

A good alternative to the yard sale is to make use of Craigslist, a great internet site for buying and selling almost anything legal -- furniture, bicycles, musical equipment, housewares, art, and whatever. Over 40 million people use it every month. It's free and localized, so there is typically no shipping involved.

8) Do Odd Jobs

Babysitters earn upwards of $10 an hour these days. Offer to sit for friends' kids on Friday or Saturday night. The parents will be only too happy to hand you cash when they return! One complaint of young males is that nobody is likely to hire them to watch their kids. An alternative is to offer to wash cars, mow lawns, weed backyards or haul crap out of the garage, instead.

9) Find an Online Gig

One valid work-at-home program is Amazon Mechanical Turk, where companies post tasks that machines cannot easily do, but that are relatively simple for humans. You choose an assignment, and, on completion, are credited with payment to your Amazon account. This money can be withdrawn once you accumulate $10.

10) Collect Your Change

If you are like most Americans, there is hidden cash throughout your home. It may be underneath your sofa cushions, in little jars or piggy banks, but there is bound to be bounties of pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters just waiting for you to unearth them. You may be surprised how much you find and how much all that "small change" is worth.

11) Return Past Purchases

Taking recently purchased items back for cash is really one of the most efficient ways of making quick cash. Not only are you typically able to get your full purchase price back if you have a receipt, but you'll reduce your stuff and pay penance for your spending habit, too.

12) Hold a Yard Sale

If you have furniture, electronics, children's items, sports equipment, jewelry, collectibles (in other words, the unsual hodgepodge of clutter that most of us once thought we needed to buy), then a yard sale may help you raise some money fast.

13) Recycle Scrap Metal

One way you can get some quick cash is to sell scrap metal to your local salvage yard or recycling center. One WalletPop blogger's co-worker bought a used camper for just over $600 and took his old one to get scrapped. The scrap value of his camper almost paid for his new camper purchase.

14) Become a Temp

If you show up to work on time, take reasonably short lunch breaks, don't leave too early, and demonstrate even the slightest amount of energy and initiative, chances are that your employers will view you as a God-send. In many cases, they will even offer you permanent employment. And temp jobs can pay really well.

15) Sign Up for Medical Tests

Perhaps your path to wealth is as a medical guinea pig. The National Institutes of Health has 300 studies that need volunteers. Rochester Clinical Research is looking for volunteers to test an Avian Flu vaccine.

16) Take in a Boarder

Sharing living expenses can put more cash in your pocket. However, if you ask someone to move into your spare room -- or onto your couch -- draw up a lease agreement, even/especially if your prospective boarder is someone you know.

17) Tap Your Life Insurance

If you have whole life (a type of insurance you buy to last your "whole" life and your heirs get the payout even if you live to 104), you pay higher premiums, but the insurance has a "cash value" that you can tap any time. All you have to do is call your life insurance company to access the money.

18) Get a Payday Loan

If you're responsible with your money and know that you're facing less than two weeks of a cash shortfall, borrowing $300 today in return for repaying $345 in two weeks may be a good idea. If you're the sort of person who has a continual spending or money management problem, this is the dumbest thing you could possibly do.

Get online cash as easy as 1-2-3!

19) Raid Your IRA

If you need quick cash, your retirement savings can look like a great place to find the lump sum you need, but tread carefully. There are lots of rules and if you don't qualify for an eligible withdrawal you'll have to pay a 10% penalty plus taxes on the money at your current income tax rate.

20) Pawn Your Stuff

Pawnshops work like this: you offer up your prized possessions as collateral on a loan; in most cases, the loan will be about 10% of the actual value of your item. At this point, you have three choices: redeem the loan, pay interest to keep the loan alive, or let it lapse and forfeit your goodie.

21) Sell Some Body Parts

Well, not body parts, as in a kidney or lung, we're talking more of the replaceable (and legally sold) kind like plasma and hair. In most larger cities, there are clinics that will pay you up to $35 or so for some of your plasma, which you can donate twice a week. Sales for generous lengths of tresses reportedly can net you several hundred to over a thousand dollars.

22) Bank on Your Sperm

Advertised sperm donation rates vary from $1 to $200 per week; most donors can expect somewhere around $40 per donation. It does, however, require a six-month or greater commitment, and no "liberation" of sperm when you're off the clock.

23) Sell Stuff to Motorists

Roadside sales can pull in some quick cash. Pick high-profit items that aren't highly perishable and/or have a high cost/sale price ratio: cold soda, corn, baked goods, flowers.

24) Scalp Tickets (Legally)

So you're broke, and it suddenly occurs to you that you are sitting on concert tickets to Hannah Montana. If the water dept. is threatening to cut you off for non-payment, scalping those tickets could save you from a dirty, smelly fate.

25) Go Scavenging

100,000 homeless can't be wrong! In states that require a deposit, 50 cans could bring you $2.50 or more. As scrap, 32 cans make a pound, worth 70 cents. Grab a shopping cart and go hunting! If you live near a beach, another treasure-hunting option is to use a metal detector to look for coins or other valuable items just below the sand's surface.

26) Head to the Casino

Understand this first: this is our No. 1 most desperate way to make some quick cash, and only applies in this situation: you have some money, but not enough, and MUST have more within a very short time or your life will fall into ruin. Only then does a reasonable man consider the casino.  Don't have time to go the casino, bet on your favorite sports or casino games online!  No need to leave your home and you can raise some cash quickly with just a few clicks!

10 Commandments for affiliate marketing success

Affiliate programs can be a big source of revenue. The key to maximizing your earnings is engaging your readers. Unlike traditional ads where you are paid for impressions or clicks, affiliates are only paid when/if a specific action is performed. The action might be a purchase or signing up for a newsletter, but regardless, you are not paid until you've compelled your readers to act.

With that in mind, here are the Top 10 Commandments for affiliate marketing success.

1. Know Your Audience

The most successful way to use affiliate programs is to anticipate and meet the needs of your readers. Consider why they are coming to your site. What are you providing that they are looking for? Make sure the affiliate products you are promoting provide a solution to your audience's problems.

If you are writing about sports, don't put up affiliate ads for printer toner just because everyone has a printer and those programs have a high payout. The people who are coming to read commentary or get stats for their favorite teams aren't thinking about those things when they're on your site.

The more relevant the ads are to your readers, the more likely they will use them.

2. Be Trustworthy

Readers are savvy. They know an affiliate link when they see one. If you break their trust by promoting a product you don't believe in or take advantage of their visit with too many ads, they will leave and never come back.

It is your repeat visitors that will drive traffic. They are the ones who will give you linkbacks, spread the word, and recommend your site as the go-to place for valuable content. You need to build a relationship based on genuine content.

If your visitors don't think you're being honest, they won't read anything else you have to say.

3. Be Helpful

Think of affiliate ads as additional resources that complement your content. Give value to your content by making it helpful, useful, and informative.

Don't put up a list of your favorite books, hoping people will click on the affiliate link, purchase the books (just because you listed them), so you can cash in on a sale. Take some time to write a detailed review, and use affiliate ads to point them in the right direction if they decide to act on your information. That's what affiliate ads are for. If you write a great review recommending a book and readers buy the book because of it, you should get something for that.

But just throwing out links to products with no rhyme or reason will result in a quick exit by visitors.

4. Be Transparent

Always disclose your affiliations. Your readers will appreciate your honesty, and will feel better about contributing to your earnings. If they sense that you are being less than honest about your affiliations, they are savvy enough to bypass your link and go directly to the vendor just to avoid giving you referral credit.

Honesty and full disclosure is a necessary part to building a loyal reader base. They know they are supporting you by using your referral links. Make them happy and eager to do so.

5. Select Carefully

Take the time to go through all the different options for products or services available through the programs. Put some thought into which products or services your readers may need or like. Also, change the ads around often, try different ones, and use different graphics and text to see which are the most effective.

It may take some time before you figure out the best formula, and you may also find that you need to continually rotate ads to attract more attention.

6. Try Different Programs

If one particular program doesn't seem to be working for you, try another one.

Affiliate programs don't look the same. They offer different products, services, and payment structures. Some programs will have a lifetime payout on sales while others will limit it to 30-90 days. Some programs allow much more flexibility in the types of ad units available, as well as colors and design so it fits better on your site's layout.

Also, check your favorite vendors to see if they run their own affiliate program. Sometimes you can go directly to the source. You're not limited to big affiliate networks.

Integrate systematic ad testing into your strategy to maximize your profits.

7. Write Timeless Content

Your old content can still be valuable even though it's no longer on your front page. Take advantage of the long term opportunities by making sure you provide timeless content.

If visitors come across your older content first, and find that it offers dated information, they will leave right away. Of course, information moves forward, so relevant content changes quickly. You can make your content timeless simply by adding links to your updated articles on your old ones.

Many platforms allow you to show "most recent" or "most popular" or "related articles" on every page, so no matter how old the article is, it will always show access to your new ones. Your old content can make money for you indefinitely.

8. Be Patient

Affiliate revenue grows and builds up with time. Remember that some programs offer lifetime payouts. If you refer a visitor, you may continue to make money from that one visitor even if he doesn't come back to your site. Also, as long as you have referral links still active in your old posts, they may still payout for you.

Affiliate programs aren't a get rich quick plan, but it provides opportunity to make passive income in the future.

9. Stay Relevant

Keep up to date on the latest offerings of your affiliate programs. New ad units, advertisers, and tools are constantly being added to improve usability and be more visually appealing. Small changes go a long way in motivating action by readers. You may be left out in the dust by being complacent with your strategy.

Don't get lazy about monitoring trends and exploring new opportunities.

10. Content Comes First

Above all else, your content must be your highest priority.

Your content is your foundation, the life blood on which the site exists. Without valuable and helpful content, readers won't come. Focus on providing excellent content, and the monetizing strategies will work out.

Once you start compromising your content to cater to the affiliate programs or any other money making venture, you will lose your readers. Once that happens, you will lose the opportunity to receive any earnings from any of your ads, be they CPM, CPC, or referral based.

Why Start an Affiliate Program?

Maybe you aren't really sure what an affiliate marketing is. Or how an affiliate program works? Maybe you just aren't sure how having an affiliate program would help you in your business. Internet marketing has become one of the most prevalent and effective methods or marketing. If you have an online business but are having a hard time getting word out about it and seeing the traffic and sales that you were hoping for. An affiliate program may be the perfect solution for you.

Ever thought that you just need an army of people out there spreading the word for you about your business website? There are only so many contacts that you can make on your own in a day. But if you had 10 or 100 or 1,000 or more people telling others about your business website and your products, imagine what an enormous difference it could make for your business and ability to make money online?

Essentially that is why you start an affiliate program. You pay people either a flat rate or a commission on every sale that they send your way. They will place a link or a banner on their site advertising your site. Then every time someone goes from their site to your e-commerce site, and buys something, you pay them. Now you suddenly have tens, hundreds, possibly thousands of people telling others about your site and product.

Synopsis of benefits of having an affiliate program:
  1. Boost Your Website Traffic: Affiliates place links and banners with your URL, this increases the chances of people visiting your site.
  2. More Incoming Links: The more affiliates you have, the more links to your site which results in #3
  3. Higher Page Rank: This means you have better search engine positioning- more people can find your site.
  4. More Sales: The more people that visit the site, the more sales you will get.
  5. Better Name and Website Awareness: You aren't trying to tell everyone about your business yourself, you now have a whole army of people helping you.
Some big name affiliate programs in the web hosting industry include:
